Maintenance of permanent leak detectors
The US and EU regulation require the installation of a permanent leak detection system capable of alerting the operator in the event of a leak for installations containing high GWP refrigerants. Once installed, these systems must be checked annually.
Do permanent detectors require annual maintenance?
Yes, in the same way as portable leak detectors, permanent leak detectors must be checked annually. The EU Regulation n°517/2014 specify this obligation:
"Equipment operators shall ensure that leak detection systems are checked at least once every twelve months to ensure that they are working properly."
How to carry out this maintenance:
Matelex offers installers the option of carrying out their own annual inspection of the equipment using an annual inspection kit. Once the equipment has been replaced, the old equipment is returned to us using the return note enclosed in the parcel.
The PolarBox annual inspection kit contains:
- A calibrated 0 - 20 Kgs strain gauge
- Calibration file: sent automatically if PolarBox connected. To be requested from Matelex technical support if PolarBox disconnected.
How it works:
When you receive the pre-calibrated kit, replace the old components with the new ones. Then return the replaced components using the returns slip included in your parcel. Then collect your certificate showing that the annual inspection has been carried out.
